BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN CLAIMS

Whether a bicycle, pedestrian or motor vehicle is at fault for an accident, ICBC will be involved in the personal injury claim as follows:

  • If the motor vehicle is at fault, ICBC will compensate the cyclist or pedestrian through a personal injury claim.
  • If the cyclist or pedestrian is at fault and has ICBC insurance, ICBC will compensate the motor vehicle through a personal injury claim.

If the cyclist or pedestrian is at fault, and DOES NOT have insurance, ICBC may compensate the motor vehicle driver pursuant to their Underinsured Motorist Protection (“U.M.P.”) plan.
